Does Mike Myers know something we don’t? Or is he just fascinated by the ridiculous idea a secret cabal of powerful figures controls the entire world? Because the man who created Dr. Evil is back with a new Netflix series about a mysterious shadow group shaping humanity’s path. And like Dr. Evil, they seem to be totally in over their heads. Something a single reporter sets out to expose to the public. Whether or not he outs the organizations remains to be seen. But the first trailer for The Pentaverate promises it’s going to be fun watching him try. Especially since the series stars Myers playing multiple roles.
This trailer looks like what would happen if the Illuminati wanted to make their own Mad Magazine version of Eyes Wide Shut. Then they put Mike Myers in charge and told him his prosthetics and wig budget was 40 billion dollars. That description of this inherently silly limited series is way better than what you get from the show’s official synopsis. From Netflix:

For a group founded on stopping the Black Plague, the Pentaverate sure could have worked harder these last few years, eh? But they were probably too busy spending money on elaborate costumes and ornate masks.
Also starring Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Lydia West, and Gregory Hoyt, Netflix calls The Pentaverate a “comedy series event.” The six-episode series debuts on the streaming site May 5, 2022. Well, assuming some secret organization doesn’t do something to delay it. Not because they want to either. Just because they screw everything up. Again.
