“Superbad” and super moisturized.
Did actor Michael Cera have something to do with starting the skincare brand CeraVe? He may have alluded to that juicy tidbit of information on more than one occasion, and podcast host Bobbi Althoff wants to get to the bottom of it.
During the most recent episode of “The Really Good Podcast,” Cera set the record straight about being the mastermind behind the wildly popular skincare brand. Or did he?
Michael Cera And CeraVe: Are They Connected Somehow?
While Cera has been seen here and there with CeraVe products in hand, people are buzzing with speculations that he is in fact the mastermind behind the popular skincare brand. He’s been spotted in a drug store tagging CeraVe bottles as well as passing them out on the streets of New York City.
So what’s the deal? That’s where Althoff comes in to clear up any confusion and speculation, or at least attempt to.
“You claim you started that,” Althoff said to Cera about the CeraVe brand, to which he responded, “I don’t claim that but if you look at my name, my name is Michael Cera. I just say look at the name.”
Cera said that other people say he started the brand and continued to somewhat deny that he’s had anything to do with his recent CeraVe conspiracy.
“I like to just say I have some skin in the game and kind of leave it at that,” he continued. “I do use CeraVe. I think it’s a fine product and I think it’s very hydrating. There are three essential ceramides in it and a series of nourishing lipids, and I think it’s a fine product but that’s as far as it goes, as far as I’m willing to say.”
Althoff asked Cera how he knows all of that information and he claims he doesn’t know why, but he’s “come to know that.” He then said he would like to “talk about a wide range of other things, not just my product, I mean, not just CeraVe.” That’s when Althoff decided it was time to be blunt and ask again if he did in fact have something to do with starting the product.
“I appreciate your interview style, but I think I want to stay with kind of personal stuff,” Cera replied. “Yeah, there are rumors. I can’t be held responsible for every rumor, every nasty rumor about me. You know how the media spins things. You’ll experience it when you start a product one day.”
As Cera dances around the topic Althoff is trying to get some clarification about, the conversation doesn’t quit just yet. Althoff sternly askes one more time, “Did you or did you not create CeraVe?”
Cera then excuses himself from the conversation without giving any concrete answers. The world is left in limbo.
Fueling The CeraVe Fire: TikToker Catches Michael Cera Signing CeraVe Bottles!
TikTok creator @haleyybaylee recently shared a video showing Cera signing some CeraVe bottles in a drugstore.
“You guys have been asking for a skincare routine, so come with me to do a restock,” she began her video. “Okay, I think it was, is that Michael Cera? Wait, I think that’s Michael Cera.”

When Cera spotted Haley he simply said, “Hi, some lovely cream here. Bye, thank you.” She then gets closer to the shelves of CeraVe products and notices that Cera signed them, putting “Michael” just above the words “CeraVe” on the front of the bottle and a sticker of his face on each.
