The 2025 Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival has unveiled Metallica as a two-night headliner, as well as direct support on those evenings from Rob Zombie and Alice in Chains. The four-day fest takes place May 8th-11th at Historic Crew Stadium In Columbus, Ohio.
The news comes on the same day that Metallica announced a 2025 North American tour. The Sonic Temple appearance will mimic the band’s “No Repeat Weekend” itinerary, in which they play two unique sets in each city. In the case of Sonic Temple, Metallica will be headlining Friday, May 9th, and Sunday, May 11th.
“Every year we ask our fans who they want to see at Sonic Temple, and the answer this year was clear — Metallica! We’ve been trying to get Metallica to Sonic Temple for the last five years, and are ready to bring two nights of Metallica to Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio next May,” said Danny Wimmer, founder of the festival’s production company Danny Wimmer Presents.
He added, “This is just the start; we’ll have more than 100 bands playing across 4 stages for 4 days, including Rob Zombie and Alice in Chains in direct support for Metallica. We’re so excited about this lineup that we’ll be announcing artists daily for the next month, so there’s a lot for fans to look forward to.”
Rob Zombie will play right before Metallica on the Friday lineup, while Alice in Chains will precede Metallica on Sunday night. Dozens more bands will be revealed in the coming weeks and months, with tickets going on sale September 25th.
Metallica were supposed to headline Sonic Temple in 2020 but those plans were stifled when the pandemic shut down the concert industry. As mentioned, Metallica also announced a new 2025 leg of their ongoing “M72 World Tour,” featuring support from Pantera and Limp Bizkit.
