SPICE Girls star Mel C has dropped the biggest hint yet that the iconic girl group are set to reunite next year.
The band – completed by Emma Bunton, Mel B, Geri Horner and Victoria Beckham, – have been cemented in music history as one of the biggest pop groups of all time, with fans continually eager to see them back on screen.
Now, with their debut single, Wannabe, turning 30 next year, it seems like the band might finally be in agreement.
Speaking on Australia’s 2Day FM, Mel C told the Jimmy and Nath Show, Mel spoke about the monumental anniversary, and the girls’ potential plans.
“It’s 30 years next year since the release of Wannabe. We have to do something special,” she explained to the radio DJs.
“Obviously I can’t say too much but we are talking about things. Hopefully a nice little world tour!”
Some members of the band have made no secret of their desire to bring the girls back together and head out on the road again.
Most notably is ‘Scary’ Spice Mel B, who has made multiple public comments about reuniting the group.
Last year, she even hinted there was a feud with the girls who were holding out, branding them “d***heads” on Nevermind The Buzzcocks for kicking her out the WhatsApp group after pushing the subject.
Speaking to Gabby Logan on Magic FM earlier this month, Mel B shared hopes there could finally be some progress.
She said: “I get so excited on stage with my girls, I end up running round the whole stage, I kind of lose myself.”
When asked directly if the band will reunite, she said: “I’m hoping so. You know me, I’m always saying ‘yeah we’re going on tour tomorrow’.”
The last time all five girls performed together was at the London 2012 Olympics Games closing ceremony – with Victoria not taking part on the 2019 tour across UK and Ireland.
They were also all seen together for Victoria’s birthday last year – even singing for the intimate crowd of party-goers at the exclusive London event.
Performing their routine to hit single Stop, Victoria’s husband David was front row to catch on camera the moment the five girls got together, singing and dancing along.
