Matty Matheson to Front New Hardcore Band Pig Pen

The Bear’s Matty Matheson has been busy in recent years sharing yummy recipes and good vibes, and now, he’s gearing up to share some hardcore music too. On Tuesday, the celebrity chef and actor unveiled his new band, Pig Pen.

Featuring Matheson on lead vocals, Pig Pen’s members also include Alexisonfire’s Wade MacNeil on guitar and backing vocals, as well as Daniel Romano (guitar), Ian Ski Romano (drums), and Tommy Major (bass). According to a post from Matheson on Instagram, the band originated when “a few old friends got together a couple years ago and wrote and recorded 10 songs over two days.”

Pig Pen have yet to share any details as to when their recorded music will arrive, but the band has pinned down their first live show — they’ll perform on April 25 at Sneaky Dee’s in Toronto, with bands Best Wishes and Pluto’s Kiss filling out the lineup. Tickets are sold out, but a waitlist is active.

Meanwhile, get a taste of the band’s sound by watching the clip below.

Matheson began his career as a chef, and rose to prominence through his restaurant work and on-screen appearances. He was catapulted further into the public eye when he joined the cast of The Bear in 2022 as Neil Fak. He is also an executive producer for the show, which is expected to return for its fourth season this June.
