Matty Matheson’s band Pig Pen have announced their debut album ‘Mental Madness’, which will arrive June 27 via their new label home Flatspot Records.
Fronted by Matheson – known for his cheffing, and appearance in FX’s ‘The Bear’ series – the band also features Alexisonfire’s Wade MacNeil, Daniel Romano, drummer Ian Romano and bassist Tommy Major.
Their debut album will arrive via the pivotal hardcore label in Flatspot Records, which has helped acts break through such as Speed, Scowl and End It.
To announce the new project, and give a taste of what’s to come, the band have shared lead single ‘Mental Mentality’ – have a listen below via the official video.
‘Mental Madness’ is said to stick to themes described by Matheson as “mental health shit”, with the chef, actor and frontman sharing:
“You can be having a beautiful day, surrounded by friends, and your brain can continuously ruin it.”
“No matter how good or bad your life is, you can still hate yourself. I’ve got to ask myself why am I feeling the ways I’m feeling?”
