Fifty-four-year-old Matt Damon has been one of America’s favorite actors since starting out his actin career with his appearance in Mystic Pizza with Julia Roberts back in 1988. The actor, producer, and screenwriter hasn’t stopped since. Matt then moved on to crush it in The Rainmaker, Good Will Hunting, The Departed, Saving Private Ryan, The Adjustment Bureau… and who could forget Jason Bourne? The list is truly endless.
Fast-forward to 2025, and Matt Damon is starring alongside Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Lupita Nyong’o in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The cast is absolutely star-studded and we can’t wait for more details.
The project was confirmed in December 2024 when Universal Pictures wrote on X, “Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology.”

How exactly is Matt preparing to channel muscle-packed Odysseus? While we don’t know his step-by-step workout regimen quite yet, Ben Affleck spilled some tea to GQ regarding his bestie’s preparations.
“I used to be very gung ho about like, ‘Oh, I’ll do the fights, I’ll do the stunts.’ And now I am very much, ‘At what point is the stunt performer going to come in and do this?’,” Ben told the outlet. “It’s one of the things I was talking to Matt about—he’s going off to do this Chris Nolan movie and doing a lot of stunt rehearsal, and it was kind of like, Boy, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Where you really have to go learn the fights—this is Bourne Identity kind of territory.”
Nolan’s portrayal of the Greek epic is set to be released on July 17, 2026.
