On Thursday, November 10, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hit theaters in the United States, marking a long and painful journey since the release of the original film in 2018, which has, of course, been defined by the passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020.
Prior to his death, Boseman starred as T’Challa, a.k.a. the Black Panther, in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, 2018’s Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. He also lent his voice to the Disney+ series What If…?.
While the entirety of Wakanda Forever is virtually a celebration of Boseman and his legacy in and of itself, Marvel Studios did something quite special to pay tribute to the late actor — who passed away following a private four-year battle with cancer — as they changed their iconic Marvel Studios title card into a direct homage to the beloved actor.
Marvel Studios changed their official title card sequence for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and made it a tribute to Chadwick Boseman
This update comes after the studio already changed the official title card that’s shown before every movie to have Boseman’s Black Panther be the last character to be seen before the words MARVEL STUDIOS lock into the center of the screen. They also updated the Black Panther title sequence, as well. You can find both of those below:
As mentioned above, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever — which stars Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Tenoch Huerta, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett — hit theaters in the United States on Thursday, November 10.
Wakanda Forever will be the last film in the MCU’s “Phase Four” before “Phase Five” kicks off in February with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. 2023 is set to be chock full of Marvel projects, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. and The Marvels are also set to hit theaters. Additionally, over on Disney+, there will be shows such as Secret Invasion, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Echo, Ironheart, and the second season of both Loki and What If…?.
