It turns out that you do actually have something in common with Margot Robbie, as the 33-year-old Academy Award-nominated megastar is apparently a massive Lord of the Rings fan.
During a recent interview with W Magazine, Robbie — joined by Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling — was asked her who “cinematic crush” was and the first name that came to mind was Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn in Lord of the Rings.
“Obviously there have been, many, many, many over the years, but the one that comes to mind [is] Viggo Mortensen in Lord of the Rings as Aragorn… Strider,” Robbie said.
As for Gosling, his answer was Raquel Welch dressed like a cavewoman on an episode of The Muppets Show (and, yes, I found it online and its posted below).
“I was Raquel Welch on The Muppet Show when I was young,” Gosling explained. “She was dressed like a cavewoman. She was dancing with a big puppet spider. And I liked it. I liked it more than anything I’d ever liked before… I always feel like I overshare when I’m… [points to the camera].”
Imagine a Lord of the Rings (extended cut) sesh on a rainy Sunday with Margot Robbie. There’s actually a dude out there somewhere that theoretically gets to do that. That’s the stuff dreams are made of.
This certainly won’t be the last we see of Gosling and Robbie together as they’re not only going to be in the public eye quite a bit over the next few weeks leading into the Academy Awards but will also be starring together in an upcoming prequel in the Oceans franchise.
Barbie, which Robbie also produced in addition to starring in, is expected to be nominated in major categories at the Academy Awards such as Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song for “I’m Just Ken,” and more.
