Man gets kicked out of airport for smuggling turtle in his pants

Turtle in a box

A man in Pennsylvania was getting patted down by TSA officers at the Newark Liberty International Airport when they discovered something very strange in his pants.

Though security is tight at most airports, that hasn’t stopped people from doing their best to get around it and bring things on board they’re not supposed to.

However, instead of typically illegal items, one Pennsylvania man decided that he just couldn’t leave his turtle behind and decided to stuff it right into his pants.

Airport security finds turtle in someone’s pants

He initially went through the body scanners at the airport, but he was flagged for a pat down due to an unknown object in his pants.

When he was searched, the TSA officer found something strange in the area of his groin. It was a hard object tucked where there definitely shouldn’t be one.

The man knew the jig was up and pulled the turtle out of his pants, a small 5 inch turtle wrapped in a towel he was keeping there to try and get it through security.

He wasn’t detained for his actions, but he was escorted out of the airport and ultimately missed his flight.

“We have seen travelers try to conceal knives and other weapons on their person, in their shoes and in their luggage, however I believe this is the first time we have come across someone who was concealing a live animal down the front of his pants,” said TSA’s Federal Security Director for New Jersey when asked by the Associated Press.

“As best we could tell, the turtle was not harmed by the man’s actions.”

The turtle was ultimately confiscated by security after he got led out of the airport, with it being unclear whether or not it was his pet or just a turtle he found and tried to bring through security.

This isn’t the only case of someone smuggling something completely random through an airport checkpoint, with one TikTokker filming themselves bringing a plant through security successfully by hiding it in a Styrofoam cup.
