The main, official trailer for Superman, helmed by Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad filmmaker James Gunn, has been released ahead of the film’s premiere on Friday, July 11.

Superman is set to be the first film in the DCU, Warner Bros. attempted reboot of the DC Comics brand on the big screen following the conclusion of the DCEU in 2023. The film is absolutely crucial for not just Warner Bros. — launching a new franchise, successfully adapting Superman (easier said than done), but also for the movie business in general.

Superman stars relative unknown David Corenswet — his previous biggest parts were in Twisters Pearl, We Own This City, and Lady in the Lake — in the lead role of Clark Kent/Superman and Emmy-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult, who auditioned for both Batman and Superman in recent years, is on board as the villainous as Lex Luthor.

Alongside Corenswet as the iconic Man of Steel, Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Hoult as Lex Luthor, Superman also stars Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner (a Green Lantern), , Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, endell Pierce as Perry White, and Frank Grillo as Rick Grillo Sr. Additional cast members include María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Terence Rosemore, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and more.

At this time, other projects in the works as DC Studios, which Gunn oversees as co-CEO alongside Peter Safran, are Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (due out June 2026), Clayface (September 2026), The Authority, The Brave and the Bold (a Batman movie), and Swamp Thing.

The only one of those films with any promising development news, however, is Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow , which recently wrapped filming ahead of its June 2026 release.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow stars House of the Dragon breakout Milly Alcock in the lead role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, while the film was directed by Craig Gillespie known for his films Lars and the Real Girl, Fright Night, Million Dollar Arm, The Finest Hours, I, Tonya, Cruella, and Dumb Money, and the TV series Pam & Tommy and Your Friends and Neighbors.
