Mac DeMarco has officially announced his new album: Guitar is out August 22nd via Mac’s own Record Label. Today, he’s shared the single “Home” and added 2026 dates to his ongoing tour.
Guitar was written and recorded in Los Angeles over an approximately two week period in November 2024. DeMarco handled all features of the album, including mixing, directing and shooting music videos, and creating the album’s cover. “I think Guitar is as close to a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper,” he said in a press release. “I’m happy to share this music, and look forward to playing these songs as many places as I’m able.”
Today’s single “Home” is a lo-fi ode to hometown nostalgia. “These days I’d much rather be on my own/ No more walking those streets/ That I once called my home,” DeMarco sings. “Home” is accompanied by a video which features the musician canoeing near his mother’s house in Canada.
