Ludwig addresses VTuber model backlash but already has plans for its return

Ludwig spoke out about his controversial VTuber debut stream and revealed that he will return to it in the future.

The VTuber space has never been more popular, with Ironmouse holding the top Twitch subscriber count for a brief time in 2024. While they lost the top spot to Kai Cenat, other VTubers are also rising up the ranks.

However, content creator Ludwig was the center of a big controversy online after he finally debuted his VTuber model. In particular, VTuber Momma Occo’s comments on X (formerly Twitter) generated so much attention that Ludwig responded.

After streaming across both Twitch and YouTube on February 23, Ludwig then edited the story together and uploaded a video on YouTube. This recap shared his VTuber model on X, which drew out a reply from Momma Ocoo who said the community needs to “gatekeep against people who would bastardize a medium.”

Moreover, they later wrote, “Ludwig, you are not welcome in the VTuber community,” and added that there are “so many snakes” in the VTuber space.

Ludwig hits back at VTuber debut backlash

In reply to this, Ludwig apologized and revealed that he thinks “VTubers are cool and tried [his] best during [his] debut stream.”

He added, “I know I don’t understand as much as native Vtubers so I tried to make it faithful to what a debut stream should be while also making it fun for my regular audience.”

When addressing the actual design of his VTuber model, the 29-year-old expressed how they thought it was “really good” and that he “massively” disagrees with those online “insulting them.”

Ludwig then reiterated that he spent three years developing his VTuber model and that he did so because of a “challenge by Ironmouse,” one he enjoyed “navigating.”

In 2021, Ludwig and Ironmouse streamed together and after playing a series of minigames, they decided to make a wager on heads or tails. The coin landed on the latter, meaning Ludwig lost and was expected to become a VTuber for a day.

Before wrapping up his message, the Twitch streamer added, “I am also sorry to say, but Lewdvig will be returning.”
