“Love Is Blind” season two had more breakups than romance, but there’s one pair that seem to have successfully come out of the show with a budding relationship. The biggest revelation from the season two reunion — which aired on March 4 — didn’t involve major drama with any of the couples, but, in fact, a new connection that’s blossomed between castmates Kyle Abrams and Deepti Vempati.
“Biggest regret is I should’ve asked Deepti to marry me.”
During the reunion, Abrams recapped how his relationship with ex Shaina Hurley was “a big waste of time” before he seemingly professed his love for Vempati, who memorably got engaged to but broke up with Shake Chatterjee in the season two finale. “I have a huge regret,” Abrams told hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey. “Biggest regret is I should’ve asked Deepti to marry me. That’s what I learned the most is I f*cked up. I should’ve tried harder for you. I love her so much, she’s the best. I wish I saw what was right in front of me.”
Although Abrams’s confession seemed to have come out of left field, he and Vempati formed a tight bond offscreen as friends and took things to the next level at the end of “Love Is Blind: After the Altar,” which premiered on Sept. 16, roughly six months after it was filmed. Though the two made their romance official at the end of the reunion special, it’s unclear if they’re still together.
Back in April, Vempati and Abrams fueled romance rumors when they were photographed cozying up to each other at Coachella. In a since-deleted Instagram photo, the pair were seen hugging and holding each other’s hand next to former Bachelor Nation couple Katie Thurston and John Hersey. So, what’s the current status of their relationship?
Well, it seems Vempati and Abrams still want to keep “Love Is Blind” fans in suspense. On Sept. 8, the latter told POPSUGAR, “Right now we’re going to keep our status private.” He added: “We haven’t seen the show [yet], and also the show has not aired. I know people want to know, but we want to talk about it together. Neither of us are going to individually say where we’re at. So I’ll leave it at that.”
Abrams went on to say that he and Vempati “hung out every day” after filming wrapped on season two, “especially all through the winter.” “Then after a year had gone by, there were questions of where are we at in our relationship,” he said. “Either we stay best friends or we give it a shot. So, the hesitations that we had were if we break up, can we still be best friends? Usually it’s a no, so that was why we were so hesitant [to make things official].”
For now, Abrams remains tightlipped about his and Vempati’s romantic relationship, but he said, “If people are curious, then they’ll find out about Deepti and I.”
