Singer Louis Tomlinson has shared that he is still not communicating with his former One Direction colleague Zayn Malik.
Tomlinson and several other members of the boy band ruffled feathers with Malik after his departure back in 2015. At the time, Malik dissed his ex-colleagues as well as engaged himself in a public Twitter verbal war with Tomlinson.
Since then, Tomlinson and Malik have been at odds and have not communicated with each other. In a recent interview, the “Don’t Let It Break Your Heart” crooner shared that he is not yet “mature enough” to get over his frustration with his ex-colleague.

Louis Tomlinson And Zayn Malik Are Still At Odds
Speaking on the “Zach Sang Show” on Wednesday, Tomlinson gave an update about his relationship with Malik. The pair had a massive public splat after the “Dusk Till Dawn” crooner left the One Direction group to start a solo career.
In response to a question about whether he was still friends with Malik, Tomlinson shared that he had not gotten over several elements that strained their relationship, seemingly implying he was still at odds with the “Pillowtalk” singer.
“I could be wrong, but I believe I said, when you asked me a similar question [last time] … I believe I said I don’t think I’m mature enough to get over what’s frustrated me in that relationship,” the 30-year-old added, per Page Six.
Tomlinson shared that he hasn’t quite let go of those frustrations, but he also said that he is definitely inching “closer to getting over all that.”
He Thinks About Zayn Malik Sometimes
Elsewhere in the interview, Tomlinson shared that his former colleague has popped up in his mind several times since their spat. He said that in those private times of reflection, he hoped Malik was doing well with his career and personal life.
“There’s been numerous times over the last couple of years where I’ve thought about him and hoped he’s alright,” the “Bigger Than Me” crooner recalled. “But it’s hard,” he added. “I definitely wish him well.”
Although the pair seemingly have not spoken since their online spat, Tomlinson thinks he will one day mend his relationship with Malik.
“I think in time,” he said. “I think we just have to bump into each other ’cause neither of us have each other’s number. I suppose maybe social media might be the way.”
Louis Tomlinson On Why He Liked Zayn Malik’s Video
Already it seems like a reconciliation could be in sight, given that Tomlinson had liked some of Malik’s singing videos over the past couple of months, with some featuring covers of songs he sang while he was a member of the boy band.
When Tomlinson was asked about his act of liking the clips, the 30-year-old lauded Malik’s talent, saying he is a “different caliber in terms of singers.”
“I wasn’t just liking it for the sake of liking it. It was a nice feeling ’cause in the past, he’s said what he’s said about the band, and I understand some of what he was saying,” the “We Made It” crooner shared on the show.
He added: “For me, in those videos, it showed he was reflecting. It showed he was thinking about those times. Of course, at the same time, showing off his incredible voice.”
Louis Tomlinson’s Music Career
After taking a hiatus from “One Direction” in 2016, Tomlinson released a couple of singles before his 2020 solo album, “Walls.” The album featured several tracks, including “Two of Us,” “Kill My Mind,” “We Made It,” and “Don’t Let It Break Your Heart.”
Last month, the father of one shared that his second studio album, “Faith in the Future,” was almost completed. At the time, he took to Twitter to announce that it would debut on November 11.
“I’m so excited to finally tell you that my new album Faith In The Future is out 11th November. After living with this album for a while, I can’t wait for you all to hear it. Thank you for allowing me to make the music I want to make,” he shared on Twitter.
Ahead of the album’s release, the singer debuted the project’s lead single, “Bigger Than Me,” on September 1.
