Lord Huron have returned with their first new music since 2023: “Who Laughs Last?” a new song featuring Kristen Stewart. Additionally, the band has announced new 2025 tour dates.
Marking Stewart’s very first contribution to a musical recording, “Who Laughs Last?” opens with a dark, driving indie rock beat, followed by spoken-word lines delivered by the Twilight actor herself, building tension for the first two minutes of the song. Then, the arrangement erupts as frontman Ben Schneider enters on the chorus, singing about leaving a city far behind and wrestling with a “burning feeling deep inside.”
The single arrives along with a music video starring Stewart as the song’s road-worn narrator, traversing a dark, surreal wasteland. Watch the video below.
Speaking about working with Stewart, Schneider said it was “the kind of collaboration you dream of, honestly.” Though he didn’t know Kristen personally prior, he reached out to her after “hearing her voice” while writing the song.
“She said she was interested so we met up and hit it off talking about books, movies, and music,” Schneider explained. “She immediately got what I was going for and had great ideas to boot. She’s just a great person and so creative and open. She added a lot to the video concept as well. It was the kind of collaboration you dream of, honestly.”
For her part, Stewart said, “I’ve always loved the band and immediately sparked to the manic drift of the song and to the mood. I love when a song is something you can kind of seep into and imagine. Ben is the nicest, I was so into reading his words… there’s nothing like making new friends through projects like these that just crop up. Lucky stuff.”
As for their 2025 tour dates, Lord Huron will embark on their previously announced “Strange Trails 10th Anniversary Tour” this May, followed by a new run of dates kicking off in July, set to stop in Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Seattle, and many more cities. Along the way, they’ll receive support by the likes of Waxahatchee, Kevin Morby, Feist, and more.
Tickets for the new shows will first become available via an artist presale opening on Tuesday, January 28th at 1:00 p.m. local time, followed by a Live Nation pre-sale on Wednesday, January 29th at 10:00 a.m. local time via via Ticketmaster (use code OCTAVE), and finally, a general on-sale opening on Friday, January 31st at 10:00 a.m. local time.
In other Stewart news, she has several new film projects on the horizon, including the theatrical premiere of Love Me later this month, and the upcoming vampire drama Flesh of the Gods.
