Lizzie is very strict when it comes to her food. “I follow a gluten free diet, lots of protein and not too many carbs! I love snacking though and always carry almonds in my handbag with me if I feel my energy drop. But I do love a cold glass of white wine with ice!!” she told Women Fitness. “I love yogurts, plenty of fruit and veg. I try not eat too many acidic foods but I do love a biscuit with my cuppa!!”
Lizzie revealed to Irish Mirror that she also maintains a meat-free diet. “I’ve become a vegetarian and cut out dairy. Everything has to be gluten free. I follow a very bland, alkaline diet, which means avoiding meat, poultry, cheese and grains,” she said.
Exercise is a big part of Lizzie’s life. “I need to go to the gym more than ever!! As we get older you notice changes but I’m lucky as I’ve always tried to keep fit and not let myself go. I try to do at least half an hour /40 minutes each morning, light weights, sit ups and squats,” she told Women Fitness.
Lizzie starts her day with a dose of fitness. “I always go first thing in the morning and this definitely gives me energy for my busy day ahead!” she told Women Fitness.
Lizzie is one of the many stars who swears by a citrus infused beverage in the morning. “It’s always good to have warm water with lemon juice to start you off in the morning,” she told Women Fitness. “Both the juice and zest (outer rind) of a lemon deliver a flavor boost to many heart-friendly foods, such as grilled fish, veggies, and salads — and may inspire you to use less salt. To trim calories from your diet, add slices of lime to sparkling water as a substitute for sugary sodas,” says Harvard Health.
