Genesis Rodriguez is heating up social media – in her two-piece workout gear. In a new post the Lioness star flaunts her fit figure in exercise clothes. “A little here a little there but always with you,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps, driving her followers wild. “Why are you so pretty 😭,” commented one of them. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
In an interview Genesis explains that she had to transform into her character, a very “disciplined” person who can transport a helicopter. “You also have to hold the back of the tail. You have to have some physical strength with your helicopter,” she says. “And you need to be strong.”
“While I was training, it was a lot of back, a lot of arms, a lot of this development,” she says, adding that she was training with Navy SEAL Duffy Graver. “I never lifted weights before, really, and I just didn’t wanna wimp out in front of someone that served our country. I was like, no you keep going. And you better not look weak in front of him. And you just keep going. And sometimes I’d be like, sorry, I need to throw up. And I would. I would throw up, and I come back and be like, much better. Okay, let’s go. Let’s keep going.”
In an interview with Jack Rico, she revealed the extreme measures she took to lose 14 pounds in 20 days for the survival thriller Centigrade. “I followed a diet that Victoria’s Secret models use before a shoot,” she explained. “It consisted of a protein shake mixed with water and a protein bar—divided in half to eat as two snacks. The main meals, lunch and dinner, were just green vegetables, which I seasoned with lime, salt, and pepper. It was awful—the worst experience ever. But it worked, as I lost 14 pounds in 20 days.”
While her commitment is impressive, experts caution against crash diets like this one, which can deprive the body of essential nutrients and lead to fatigue, muscle loss, or other health issues. For those looking to lose weight quickly in a healthier way, focusing on balanced meals with lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats, combined with regular exercise and hydration, is a safer and more sustainable approach. Consulting a registered dietitian or healthcare provider is also recommended to create a plan tailored to individual needs.
She adds that while she lost the weight, it did take a toll on her body and mind. “That exhaustion that comes with dieting and losing weight so quickly that’s not something that you can act on,” she says, admitting that the “dizziness” worked to her advantage in the movie because that’s what her character was supposed to be experiencing.
When she isn’t working, you can find Genesis riding a bike. In her recent post she cycles around the city. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is great for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis.
