A LEGENDARY US rock band have delighted fans by revealing a fresh set of gigs just months after retiring from touring.
The Touch Of Grey hitmakers made the shock announcement on their Instagram page – with the live dates for their Las Vegas residency already proving hugely popular.
Dead & Company have now added a slew of extra diary dates for their unexpected Dead Forever: Live at Sphere Vegas residency.
In an excited social media post, they wrote: “In 2023, Dead & Company played their final tour.
“But there are other ways to make sure the music never stops.
“It’s gonna be a ball.”
Dead & Company was founded by ex Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann in 2015.
The Here Comes Sunshine band also includes John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti.
They mainly perform Grateful Dead covers and toured the US last summer in what was dubbed Dead & Company’s “final tour.”
They wrapped their music in San Francisco – their home state – in front of a crowd of 840,000 adoring fans.
Mickey, who takes on drums, told ABC Audio in October: “We never said we’ll never play again, but we’ll never tour again.”
Yet John, who plays guitar and adds vocals, insisted: “Dead & Company is still a band.”
At the time John, he added: “We will play shows — I have to believe that we love this music so much we’re gonna play shows — we just are trying to figure out what that looks like for the future.
“Everyone has it in their hearts to keep playing.”
At the time, guitarist Bob also appeared more optimistic and added: “Well, it looks like that’s it for this outfit, but don’t worry, we will all be out there in one form or another until we drop.”
Now hardcore fans of the eclectic group can head to the iconic Vegas landmark – where Miley Cyrus has also been tipped for a residency.
The six-week run of shows will begin on May 16 and end on June 22 at the eye-popping futuristic The Sphere.
