James Murphy has officially confirmed that a new LCD Soundsystem album is on the way, and released the band’s new song “x-ray eyes” to DSPs.
After a busy year playing music festivals around the globe, LCD Soundsystem originally premiered “x-ray eyes” on NTS Radio DJ Anu’s “Soup to Nuts” show last month. Once LCD Soundsystem was revealed on the lineup for Primavera Sound 2025 last week, the festival confirmed that they’d be appearing with a new album in tow.

Now, James Murphy has offered a statement confirming that a new LCD Soundsystem album is in the works, which will serve as their first full-length effort since 2017’s American Dream. Read his full statement below.
“so there’s a new lcd song now called x ray eyes.
it’s the first single of what’s shaping up to be a new album. don’t ask me when that is, because we’re still working on it. but it feels very good to be putting out new music. we made a small run of silkscreened 12”s that will sell at the upcoming LA and NYC shows, and DFA will have a limited grip of them, but don’t freak out if you don’t get one because there will be a more readily available commercial release of the same record when we can get it together. we just made a pile of white labels and are screening 100 at a time for each gig. it’s a short lead time thing. and it’s fun.
but, no, there’s no finished LP yet. but when we’re not playing shows, it’s getting closer and closer to completion. so that’s the news. anything else you hear is bullshit speculation.
go vote.”
Their new song “x-ray eyes” serves as the first new LCD Soundystem song since 2022’s “New Body Rhumba.” After “x-ray eyes” premiered, we originally wrote, “With keyboard stabs, droll vocals, and a predictably-danceable drum machine beat, the song features a handful of LCD Soundsystem’s signature traits. James Murphy mutters in a half-sung voice that he has eyes that ‘can see inside’ and can ‘see through your disguise’ before whispering ‘X-ray eyes’ in the chorus. Meanwhile, a flute-like synth dances around the track, and the song’s contrasting keyboard lines become more and more restless.” Stream “x-ray eyes” below.
The song and album confirmation arrives as LCD Soundsystem are in the midst of their Los Angeles residency, which they began on Thursday night. They’ll play seven more shows in LA until heading back to their native New York for another holiday residency, which kicks off on November 21st and runs until December 15th.
