Lauren Kettering is dancing and exercising with Rhegan Coursey. In a new social media post the influencer shows off her dance moves and reveals her exercise routine while getting in a sweat session with her friend. She also flaunts her flat abs in a two-piece workout outfit. “This duo just looks and sounds right,” commented one of her followers. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care?
Lauren enjoys getting a workout in while on vacation by standup paddleboarding. “Ending the year right 🦋,” she captioned a post. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and also a great form of cardio. The water sport can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140 pound male and 436 for a female the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.
During the winter you can find Lauren skiing. “Happy happy girl because I didn’t fall once,” she wrote about a photo during a ski trip with friends. Research has linked downhill skiing to a number of health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress and the occurrence of memory deficits declines.
Another fun vacation activity that helps Lauren burn calories is jet skiing. “Let’s go for a ride 😛,” she captioned a post. According to Health Fitness Revolution, the average 150-pound rider will burn a surprising 238 calories during a half-hour ride. The sport is also great for cardiovascular endurance.
Lauren has a great hiking buddy: Her German Shepherd. “My little bodyguard 🤎,” she captioned a post from Runyon Canyon in Los Angeles. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:
- Building stronger muscles and bones
- Improving your sense of balance
- Improving your heart health
- Decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems
In the workout video she shared with Rhegan, Lauren does a strength training workout. She starts on the treadmill then moves onto some effective exercises, including hip thrusts, weighted squats, leg press, and leg extensions. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:
- Develop strong bones
- Manage your weight
- Enhance your quality of life
- Manage chronic conditions
- Sharpen your thinking skills
