HBO has released a new teaser trailer for The Last of Us Season 2 ahead of the show’s return in 2025. Watch it below.
The clip is the first proper look at the next installment after HBO offered a brief glimpse back in August. In a callback to The Last of Us Part II video game, the teaser is soundtracked by Pearl Jam’s “Future Days.”
It opens with Joel (Pedro Pascal) being probed about his actions at the end of Season 1 by guest star Catherine O’Hara, followed by a heartwarming moment of Ellie (Bella Ramsey) playing guitar for her potential love interest Dina (Isabela Merced).
The footage then shows the return of Joel’s brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna) and introduces Young Mazino’s Jesse and Kaitlyn Dever as Abby. Their shared tranquility is shattered when a swarm of infected causes all hell to break loose.
Here’s the official logline: “After five years of peace following the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.”
The trailer’s release coincides with The Last of Us Day, which marks the cordyceps virus outbreak in the original The Last of Us video game released in 2013.
