Lacuna Coil have dropped their tenth studio album ‘Sleepless Empire’, unveiling emotional single ‘I Wish You Were Dead’.
On the track, the band have shared:
“We all have this person we wish never existed, right? We all felt the need to erase the same person from our thoughts, someone who hurt us that it’s still in our mind. We wanted to write heavier lyrics on a happier musical canvas. Also we are a little tired of being politically correct at all costs…”
Exploring the emotional turmoil and struggle that accompanies toxic relationships, the track also comes with a stunning music video filmed by Martina L McLean in a church in Capranica, a small town north of Rome.

Arriving today (February 14) via Century Media Records, to celebrate the release of ‘Sleepless Empire’ Rock Sound sat down with vocalists Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro for our latest Album Story feature.
On the sonic direction of the record, Andrea told us:
“You can do something different to what everybody else is doing, as long as it’s what you feel in the moment. With this album we went with the flow and followed the music. If it felt heavy, we made it heavier. If a song wasn’t sounding like a single, we didn’t make it a single. We’ve learnt over the years that when you just try to give people what they expect, it’s not sincere. We did this because we like it, and I hope people will see the honesty in the music. Who cares what the rules are?”
