The String Cheese Incident’s Kyle Hollingsworth has released the second single off his forthcoming solo project, All We Are, due on August 1, 2025, and set to arrive via SCI Fidelity Records. Dubbed “Colorado,” the lush track pays homage to his native space through reflections of the sun-casted landscape, evoking the brightness of foliage against the crisp Rocky Mountain air, and functions as a celebration of the state’s natural abundance.
Clocking in at four and a half minutes, “Colorado” surfaces with a similar cadence to the prose of Annie Dillard, with a similar appreciation for the environment. Sharing his inspiration behind the track, Hollingsworth reflects: “I spend a lot of time in the high country, so all the images come from above 9,000 feet. From the fall colors to the sparkling snow and spring flowers, these mountains fill my spirit.”
Hollingsworth pays tribute to his 30-year tenure in the region on the track that bears the same name as the 38th state. “I get a lot of my creative energy when I’m biking, paddleboarding or skiing. Something will come to me and I’ll sing it into my phone.”
Speaking to the overarching themes across the impending set, he says, “There’s a throughline of how we are able to live in this universe. I’m in constant amazement and wonder of humanity, life on the planet and the beauty of nature all around me. I also continue to be a searcher, looking for challenges that may present themselves. I’m always experimenting musically and trying to stretch beyond what people expect of me, while continuing to examine what I expect of myself.”
“Colorado” follows Hollingworth’s initial preview from All We Are, “Carnival.” Read more about the first single here.
