Kristin Cavallari is enjoying a fun-filled trip to beautiful Montana with boyfriend Mark Estes. Cavallari, 37, shared pictures of their vacation, including one of herself wearing gray two-piece workout gear and a matching hat, posing with Estes out on a hike. “MT with him 🤍,” she captioned the post. Cavallari is thriving in her 30s—here’s what her approach to diet, wellness, and training looks like as a busy mother-of-three.
Cavallari was working out with trainers three times a week but takes it easier now. “It’s important to lift weights and I love where my muscle is at now, but I had to back off,” she told Shape. “We all have to figure out what works for us. I think it’s more about listening to your body and also how you feel in your clothes. I don’t really like weighing myself. I will from time to time just to check-in. But for the most part, [I measure my fitness] more just on how I feel and how I feel in my jeans.”
Cavallari enjoys one piece of dark chocolate after dinner to indulge her sweet tooth. “I am very health conscious, that’s important to me,” she told Shape. “I eat a lot of fruit and I definitely eat carbs, healthier carbs. I try to eat food as close to its natural state as possible. Not a lot of processed food, but tons of fruits and vegetables, and meat. I try to eat organic as often as possible. I never look at calories or fat or anything. I only read ingredient labels on a package.”
Cavallari tries to model a healthy approach to diet and fitness for her family. “I look at my diet like a checkbook,” she told PureWow. “If I indulge at a restaurant or on vacation, it’s no problem because the next day I’ll fuel my body with more salads and proteins to balance how I feel.” “It’s really important to me for my kids to see that I have a healthy relationship with food and fitness. They know firsthand how junk food makes them feel vs. nutritious alternatives, and that guides their own choices.”
Cavallari meditates and (smartly) avoids the comments online. “It’s extremely important to take care of yourself mentally with public scrutiny,” she told Glamour. “I don’t read social media comments, blogs etc. That’s been a game changer for me. I also meditate and try to get outside to connect with nature. Plus, kids help put everything in perspective.”
Cavallari is happily living her best life. “I’ve been able to prioritize myself in the last few years. I think it’s the best thing that we can do for ourselves and for our families,” she told Shape. “And yes, in a way it was forced upon me, but it’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Through anything I choose to look at the positives and that’s one really positive that has come out of my divorce.”
