King Charles Doesn’t Want To Be Meghan Markle’s Jam Rival

King Charles III celebrates 74th birthday, London, UK - 14 Nov 2022

Tensions allegedly brew between Meghan Markle and the royal family over the firm’s jam business venture, which seems to position King Charles III as her direct rival.

Meghan teased the launch of her American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand, which featured her jam jars as part of its product line. Soon after, Buckingham Palace launched its own preserves, which reportedly angered the Duchess of Sussex.

However, a royal expert has now revealed that King Charles has no intentions to upstage his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle.

King Charles Is Reportedly Not Trying To Rival Meghan Markle’s Lifestyle Brand As It’s ‘Not In His Nature’

In the months following the announcement of Meghan’s new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, Buckingham Palace also announced that it would be selling its own array of tasty confections, specifically highlighting its strawberry flavor on Instagram.

The news reportedly upset the Duchess of Sussex at the time, but royal commentator Angela Levin shared in a conversation with GBN that it wasn’t Charles’ intention to outshine her. However, many royal observers believe it wasn’t a mere coincidence.

“Meghan is very upset about her jam jars. King Charles brought out jam from his place and she supposedly felt he was taking it away from her,” Levin explained. “I don’t think he would dream to do that, to take it away from her. It’s not in his nature.”

Meghan made headlines for the social media launch of her lifestyle brand and created a buzz around it by sending personalized jam jars to her celebrity friends, who mainly took to Instagram to show off their package and also to appreciate the royal.

However, after Buckingham Palace announced its line of preserves, she reportedly wanted to contact King Charles to “confront” him about the clash in business, a rumor that Levin debunked.

“Apparently she was keen to have a discussion with the King and it’s alleged that Prince Harry held her back,” Levin claimed. “I don’t believe that bit. His Majesty doesn’t have a mobile and you can’t just get through to him. You have to go through aides and when he’s in a particularly bad mood, you can’t even do that.”

The royal expert further criticized Meghan’s marketing tactic for her brand’s products after many royal observers suspected that she strategically announced her brand to upstage certain events some royal members had at the time.

“Meghan launched one of them during Trooping the Colour, and then she launched the other ones when we had the diagnosis of cancer and things like that. People don’t like that,” GBN’s Nana Akua said.

“She does go into victim mode,” Levin replied. “I think she does feel it’s very unfair on her and she needs to find someone else because it’s not her forever.”

Reports previously suggested that the mother-of-two was clamoring to get Charles’ endorsement for her American Riviera Orchard brand’s line of products after the buzz around it seemingly dwindled.

“Meghan is looking for support wherever she can get it,” a source told OK! Magazine. “Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are at the top of her list, but she is shooting even higher and would love to get King Charles to give his stamp of approval.”

“She wants Harry to reach out to anyone in the family that he’s still got access to,” the insider continued. “She still believes that there is a lot more support for them inside the royal family than people let on, and thinks it would be foolish not to ask for help.”

The source added, “Despite all the drama, Meghan does not see why they should not be able to drum up some support and backing.”

The Duchess of Sussex’s jams, as well as her other product lines, are currently unavailable for purchase. However, the King’s organic strawberry spread retails for $8.60 after it reportedly “sold out within minutes of Meghan’s first announcement of her strawberry jar.”

Meghan Markle’s Lifestyle Brand Expected To Earn Seven Figures In First Year

Ahead of her brand launch, reports suggest that Meghan could potentially earn a seven-figure sum within the first year.

PR expert Mayah Riaz, speaking to The Mirror, supports this, noting that the “exclusive” nature of the products—such as the jams, which have been sent to only 50 people—could drive high prices.

Riaz explained: “It has already been reported a single jam jar could cost three figures. I believe that is entirely likely from what we have seen so far. This is not rare for a celebrity brand.”

The PR expert continued: “Therefore, my estimation is that American Riveria Orchard in under a year could make Meghan seven figures. It is entirely possible for the brand to make multi-seven figures by the end of next year.”
