Kick co-founder Bijan Tehrani is accusing Twitch of deliberately trying to hurt their streaming business by permabanning Adin Ross.
In 2023, Kick emerged as the newest competitor to Twitch’s livestreaming throne, offering streamers a 95/5 sub-split and looser regulations about what content is allowed.
To boost its popularity out the gate, the Stake-owned platform started signing some of the biggest names in the streaming space, such Adin Ross and followed this up by picking up xQc, Amouranth, and more.
Shortly thereafter, the content creator was hit with a permaban on Twitch after showing his Kick chat on Twitch, showcasing racist messages. However, according to one of Kick’s bosses, this was a deliberate attempt to hurt their business.
Kick co-founder claims Twitch ‘created’ a reason to ban Adin Ross
In a series of posts, Kick co-founder Bijan Tehrani responded to a post about how, after two years of being banned, Twitch still hasn’t lifted Ross’s suspension.
“The real reason Adin got permabanned after switching to Kick was not ‘unmoderated chat,’” Tehrani claimed. “It was to stop Adin from pushing Twitch viewers over.”
Big names signed to non-exclusive Kick deals, such as xQc, frequently begin their streams on Twitch and then move their broadcasts over to Kick, taking their viewers with them.
Tehrani continued, alleging that Twitch “bends” its policies to find ways to ban someone they don’t want on the site.
“When Twitch wants someone banned for business or political reasons they will bend all their policies or create new ones to do so,” he said. “Has anyone else been banned 2 years for ‘unmoderated chat’ ever?”

Kick’s Head of Strategic Partnerships, Andrew Santamaria, also chimed in on Twitch’s decision, saying that the Stake-backed platform wouldn’t do the same.
“You’ll never see our owners flipped by political pressure like Zuckerberg or Twitch, demonetize creators like YT or political-party simps like Rumble. You can truly speak your mind on Kick,” he blasted. “And for the but me’s out there. We take action against law-breaking streamers, brigade or those who endanger minors.”
These claims come after Twitch changed its rules on long-standing bans. This led fans to believe Adin Ross might be unbanned on February 25, as it would mark the two years since his permaban.
Ross then broke the news to fans that he wouldn’t be getting unbanned anytime soon. “Not gonna happen for awhile more it’s okay tho,” he revealed.
