According to unnamed sources talking to Deadline, Costner reportedly wanted to give the second half of season 5 a fraction of the time he did to the first half; reports his team are calling an “absolute lie.” “We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come,” a Paramount Network spokesperson says. Here’s exactly what the sources are saying

Costner, 68, plays the character of John Dutton on the acclaimed western drama, patriarch of the Dutton clan and head of the Yellowstone ranch. As such, he is obviously a crucial part of the show. According to Deadline, Costner only wanted to shoot for 50 days for the first part of season 5 and just one week for the upcoming second half, which reportedly caused morale issues with his costars.

Costner’s team have hit back at the reports, calling them meritless and entirely untrue. “The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of Season 5 of ‘Yellowstone‘ is an absolute lie,” attorney Marty Singer says. “It’s ridiculous — and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second.”

Singer goes on to say Costner cares deeply about the show and its success. He emphasizes the reports are not true. “As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success.”
