YELLOWSTONE’S Kevin Costner revealed a personal comment Prince William shared with him about his late mother, Princess Diana, confirming an old rumor.
Princess Diana tragically passed away following a car accident on August 31, 1997, at 36 years old.
Speaking with People, Costner revealed Prince William shared that his late mother had a crush on the Bodyguard actor.
“We met in this room, and it was just us,” Costner recalled the exchange.
“He walked up, and we shook hands… The first line out of his mouth was, ‘You know, my mom kind of fancied you.'”
While he remained tight-lipped about the details of their entire private conversation, Costner called Prince William “very sweet.”

Years before their interaction, Costner was introduced to Princess Diana by the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.
“It was so sweet,” Costner recalled to the outlet. “Sarah was the one that set this up.”
BODYGUARD 2
Prince William’s comment to Costner confirmed an old rumor that Princess Diana was set to be the Yellowstone actor’s co-star in the sequel to the 1992 film Bodyguard featuring Whitney Houston.
Speaking on The Howard Stern Show on June 18, Costner shared that following Princess Diana’s death, the film was scrapped, and things “got kind of ugly.”
“When Diana passed, about a year later it, had leaked out that I was prepping Bodyguard 2 with her,” he shared.
“And what happened was, the Royal Family kind of turned on me a little bit.
“Like, ‘No that’s not true.’ And it got actually kind of ugly. And I let it go for a while. It just got uglier and uglier.”
Costner went on to say that he wanted to reach out to the Royal Family, but the Duchess of York advised against it.
However, he did it anyway.
“She goes, ‘No, no, no, Kev, you don’t want to talk to them.’ I said, ‘Yes I do.’ I called them up.”
“I said, ‘I’m telling you something, you need to stop because it is true. And if you don’t stop, I’m gonna start. Because it was.'”
SWEET DIANA
Before her tragic death and the events that unfolded before Costner, the 69-year-old called Princess Diana “very sweet” in their initial talks about the film.
“She goes, ‘Yes. My life’s about to change,'” he remembered.
“I didn’t really go into depth with it, but I thought I understood what she was saying. She was very sweet.”
He revealed that Princess Diana was open to sharing an on-screen kiss during the film.
“The second time we talked, she said, ‘Is there going to be a kissing scene?’
“I said, ‘Do you want there to be one?'” To which she responded, “Yeah.”
Costner concluded the conversation about the late princess, saying, “I wasn’t going to make the full romance about her.
“But there was going to be a moment that we did. And she was so sweet about this.”
