Kendrick Lamar dominates Billboard’s Top Albums and Top Song charts with his album GNX and the hit single “squabble up.”
After restoring the feeling in hip-hop Kendrick Lamar had no choice but to drop an amazing project as the perfect bookend to a monumental 2024. As expected he stepped into the Kitchen for a few months and came out with the perfect feast for his supporters.
Last Friday he released GNX out of nowhere and immediately changed the Thanksgiving playlist everywhere.
Billboard reports, the surprise album knocked the sails out of the Wicked soundtrack and took the top spot on this week’s Billboard 200 albums chart. The December 7 chart crowns Lamar with 319k albums sold earning his fifth #1 album and sixth-largest debut this year.
Also, Lamar has another accolade to add with the single “squabble up” topping the Hot 100 chart according to Billboard. The lead single marks Kendrick’s fifth No. 1 record and third this year alongside “Not Like Us” and “Euphoria” from his feud with Drake. Kendrick occupies the entire top five songs on the chart with “TV Off”, “Luther”, “Wacced Out Murals” and “Hey Now” taking 2-5.
Only Taylor Swift, Drake, and The Beatles have dominated the 1-5 spots in a single week.
