Model Kate Moss is opening up about a Calvin Klein photo shoot that happened almost twenty years ago in 1992.
In the black-and-white ad, Moss is completely shirtless, showing only her bare back to the camera. She is hugging a male model, who turns out to be a young Mark Wahlberg, who is also shirtless. They are both wearing Calvin Klein underwear, although Wahlberg is wearing jeans. Moss is wearing nothing but her white cheeky underwear as Wahlberg puts his hand on the small of her back, pushing her hips into his.
On Sunday, Moss appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs radio show, where she talked about feeling “vulnerable” and “scared” during the photo shoot.
Kate Moss Said Mark Wahlberg Was ‘Very Macho’ In Their Calvin Klein Photo Shoot
As reported by PEOPLE, Moss was only a teenager when she posed topless in the black-and-white snaps, with her body flush against Wahlberg’s. Moss said that she had “not very good memories” of that photo shoot, and didn’t seem to have good things to say about Wahlberg, either.
“He was very macho, and it was all about him. He had a big entourage,” she recalled. “I was just this kind of model.”
When asked if she “felt objectified” during the photoshoot, Moss answered, “Yeah, completely. And vulnerable. And scared. I think they played on my vulnerability.” She added, “I was quite young and innocent, so Calvin loved that.”
Moss said that she suffered such “severe anxiety” before the shoot that a doctor actually prescribed her Valium. “I really didn’t feel well at all before the shoot,” she recalled. “For like, a week or two, I couldn’t get out of bed.”
Mark Wahlberg Said He ‘Never Really Had A Problem With Kate’
Kate Moss had previously told Vanity Fair that she had a “nervous breakdown” when she had to “go and work with Marky Mark.”
In 2020, Mark Wahlberg spoke to The Guardian about her remarks. When asked if he “ever made up” with her, he said, “I never really had a problem with Kate, did I?”
“I think I was probably a little rough around the edges. Kind of doing my thing,” he said of the 1992 photo shoot. “I wasn’t very… worldly, let’s say that. But I’ve seen her and said hello. I think we saw each other at a concert here and there, we said hi and exchanged pleasantries.”
It remains to be seen if the two are still friendly. During the interview, Moss was also asked about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Johnny Depp and why she agreed to testify for him in his highly publicized defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
Kate Moss Explains Why She Testified In Defense Of Her Ex-Boyfriend Johnny Depp
On May 25, Kate Moss appeared virtually in court to dispel a rumor that the “Aquaman” actress said on the stand. Heard had claimed that she heard a rumor that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor had once pushed Kate Moss down the stairs when they were dating between 1994 and 1998.
During her testimony, which did not even last three minutes, Moss explained that she was not pushed. Instead, she explained that she slipped on the stairs in the rain while they were on vacation in Jamaica.
“We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I did. There had been a rainstorm. As I left the room, I slid down the stairs and I hurt my back,” she told the jury.
“I screamed because I didn’t know what happened to me and I was in pain,” she continued. “He came running back to help me and carried me to my room and got me medical attention. He never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down any stairs.”
During the interview, Moss said that “fairness and justice” are what compelled her to testify in her ex-boyfriend’s defense.
“I know the truth about Johnny,” she said. “I know he never kicked me down the stairs. I had to say that truth.”
Although Amber Heard filed an appeal against Johnny Depp last week, Johnny Depp shocked fans by filing an appeal against Heard the following day. Those interested can read more about their legal case here.
