Karina Smirnoff is a professional dancer who always wows. She is best known for being a professional dancer on Dancing With The Stars. Smirnoff won season 13 of the show with her partner, J.R. Martinez. She is still teaching dance classes today. In April, she met up with other dancers and shared a video on their Instagrams. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Karina Smirnoff stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

Smirnoff shared some of her wellness secrets with People. She says that she tries to stay positive. “Everyone has bad days,” she says. “I used to fight them and try to change it around, but I learned that sometimes it’s easier to just embrace it and not force it, but instead shift your energy to something positive. I often would do a yoga class or try something new to shift my focus. Then you don’t forget to celebrate a small victory.”

Smirnoff shared some of her diet secrets with People. She says that finding a plan that she can stick to is most important. “I’ve tried pretty much everything. The carb diet, the protein diet, the not-eating-after-6 diet, and I found that if you need to put in a lot of effort into maintaining a healthy diet, it probably won’t work because how long are you going to do that? You want to find a way to be happy, full, energized and finding that lifestyle with food that makes you feel the best.”

Smirnoff loves to cook. She tells People that this helps her eat healthy. “I never cook with salt or add it to my meals. If I go out, I try to order something that’s low sodium,” she explained. “I feel that not having salt makes me digest everything a lot easier. I don’t miss it, and I don’t crave it. I wish I could say the same thing about sugar!”

Smirnoff tells People that she eats a lot of spinach. “I love it in every shape and form, in a salad, sautéed, even mixed with kale for a smoothie. I’m borderline Popeye!” Beaumont states that spinach has a lot of health benefits. “Rich in iron, spinach plays a central role in energy production. It also contains a high amount of flavonoids that act as anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer agents. The flavonoid nutrients found in spinach also provide antioxidant benefits as well, including vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin A.

Smirnoff’s workout routine is all about variety. “I believe in a muscle confusion workout,” says Smirnoff. “I don’t like doing the same workout routine over and over again. So I used the same approach with my 90-day Oxygen challenge. I’ve created three different workout routines (Krav Dance, Yoga Dance and Cardio Dance) where every two weeks we add and develop it more and more so you never stop learning and challenging yourself. All one needs is 30 minutes a day, and I walk them through each step and exercise. Through the period of 90 days, we will strengthen, lengthen and shape our muscles, burn calories, lose weight and develop agility, stamina and flexibility.”
