KANYE West has dropped his latest track, Like That (Remix), on an episode of the podcast The Download.
The remix samples Future and Kendrick Lamar’s original diss track titled Like That and Kanye’s spinoff takes an aim at rappers Drake and J. Cole.
Kanye’s opening notes of Like That (Remix) take a line directly from Future, K.dot, and Metro Boomin’s original – and delves deep into a long history of viral discourse.
Rap fans believe the original Like That line is a response to Drake and J.Cole’s song titled First Person Shooter.
TMZ reported the rest of Kanye’s track has been allegedly leaked online – but Ye has not confirmed if it’s the real version.
The leaked track features a line rapping, “Y’all so outta sight, outta mind / Can’t event think of a Drake line / Play J. Cole get the p***y dry / Play this s**t back 130 times.”
THE YE I REMEMBER
An X – formerly Twitter – account named SOUND posted a clip from Kanye West’s interview with Justin Laboy on The Download.
Several Kanye West fans chimed into the comments discussing the rapper’s latest diss track.
“That intro is FIRE, wow,” one X user said.
“That first verse is the Kanye West I remember,” a second praised.
“This is the best s**t I’ve heard from Kanye in years,” yet a third shared.
“Kanye West > J. Cole,” a fourth fan posted.
CAN YE CHILL?
In March, Kanye took another jab at Drake on social media.
“Everyone knows I washed Kendrick on no more parties in LA,” Kanye shared.
“Everyone knows I washed Drake at the Free Hoover Concert,” he continued, referring to the 2021 Drake and Kanye co-headlined Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert.
“Everyone knows I brought Adidas into this culture and took them out. Everyone knows Lotta, Demna, Virgil, Jerry, [and] Kim all worked for me,” he stated.
“I am the only person to come back number one after cancellation,” There is only one GOAT,” Ye claimed.
“I stand by me,” The rapped concluded.
DRAKE & KIKI
Kanye’s beef with Drake goes much deeper than his current turf war with the other two hip-hop heavyweights.
On June 29, 2018, Drake released his fifth studio album, Scorpion.
The project included the Billboard Hot 100 hit single In My Feelings in which the For All the Dogs artist rapped about a love interest named Kiki.
Listeners thought Kiki was a thinly-veiled reference to Kanye’s then-wife Kim Kardashian.
Kiki is Kim’s family nickname.
On Thursday, September 20, 2018, Kanye posted on social media saying, “The fact that people are making rumors and thinking that you f***ed my wife and you’re not saying anything, and you’re carrying it on like that… don’t sit well with my spirit.”
“Y’all be promoting that negativity; you think that’s cool for social media.
“If you get in an interview, don’t mention my wife. Don’t be making no suggestions like somebody f***ed my wife,” he concluded.
