Twitch star Kai Cenat is under fire and facing calls to be banned from the platform after looking at his phone while driving.
In the world of streaming, there may be no creator bigger than Kai Cenat. The 23-year-old is one of the most prominent streamers of all time, with over 16M followers on Twitch alone and millions more across social media.
He’s made a massive name for himself with huge celeb collabs, including sleepovers with Kevin Hart, chilling with Will Smith at the Grammys, streams with Nicki Minaj, and more.
However, Cenat’s March 30 on-stream actions have the community demanding he face consequences with users calling on Amazon-owed Twitch to suspend the creator.
Twitch viewers demand Kai Cenat be banned
In a clip going viral on social media, Cenat was driving while continuously looking at his phone.
Although the clip was deleted from Kai’s channel, it was reposted to X and Reddit, where users demanded that the streamer be punished.
“Crazy, breaking IRL law live on stream, not that smart I would say,” one commented.
“This is ok behavior?” another asked, tagging Twitch in the process.
“Twitch, ban him,” someone else chimed in.
Others defended him. One remarked, “He was at the AMP driveway and the car in front of him was a truck going slow being driven by another AMP staff.”
In the past, many streamers have been banned for distracted driving, as it’s clearly against the site’s rules.
Twitch’s community guidelines prohibit “dangerous or distracted driving, including using a phone while driving and driving under the influence.”
Back in 2021, JakeNBake was banned for using his phone while his car was cooling down on a private race track.
Most infamously, in 2023, Polish streamer ‘sidneuke’ was permanently banned from the platform after she ran over a dog while trying to read her Twitch chat.
Kai isn’t the only streamer facing calls for a ban for distracted driving, either. That same say, Jasontheween was caught looking at his phone while driving and has yet to be suspended.
So far, neither creator has responded to the controversy, but the lack of any ban has sparked favoritism allegations against Twitch.
“This is 100% confirmation that if you too big you won’t get banned,” one user wrote.
