Starting off with a few clutch tricks to stay focused, consuming water throughout the night and during the day is so important. “I have this water bottle that goes everywhere with me,” she said. “Every night, before bed, I put ice in it and fill it to the top — it holds 40 ounces of water — and I drink it throughout the night. Not all of it, obviously, but I have to have cold water before I go to bed.”
Her adaptability starts in the gym. “I love shocking my body by doing different things,” she says. “I go through different waves of where I’m at, personally and mentally. Sometimes, I’m more relaxed, doing yoga and low-intensity things about two or three times a week. Usually, I’m like a five-to-six-times-a-week person, and it’s very high intensity.” In an interview with Elle, she said, “I usually try [to work out] five times a week…I love to start my day off with a workout. It doesn’t have to be high-exertion, two hours, let’s go. But anything that gets me up and going. Sometimes it’s an hour and a half, sometimes it’s an hour, sometimes it’s 45 minutes, just depends on how I’m feeling on that day.”
Julianne Hough admits that she can’t stand the same old, same old stuff in the kitchen. For some people, consistency and routine really works for them and eating the same food that they know and love is what they prefer, but not Julianne Hough.
Just like planning workouts or meal prepping in the kitchen, she plans out her sleep schedule to be sure she’s getting enough. Helping your body rest is so crucial to your mental and physical health and keeps her from burning out. According to the Mayo Clinic, “the recommended amount of sleep for a healthy adult is at least seven hours.”
For Julianne, it wasn’t about peanut butter and jelly, it was about peanut butter, honey, banana sandwiches when she was little and she still loves them today. Even sometimes stuffing some chips in there to add some tangess and crunch. She still will indulge in some of these childhood favorites from time to time with her brother, but she works hard and she deserves a little fun and freedom.
