Julia Fox found herself reaching for mouthwash after her whirlwind, headline-grabbing fling with veteran rapper Kanye West in January 2022.
The actress revealed to InStyle magazine that her month-long affair with Ye ultimately left her with a “sour taste” in her mouth.
The 34-year-old Uncut Gems star confessed that she finds it challenging to be perceived merely as one of the ex-partners of the 46-year-old mogul and rap artist. She also said her brief romance with West and the ensuing attention negatively impacted her view on dating within their celebrity sphere.
“I don’t ever want to just be known as someone’s girlfriend. I know I’m so much more than that. And I feel like that happens so much to women in this industry,”” Fox explained.
“They’re only as good as their partner or they can make a whole career off being some guy’s partner,” Fox added. “But regardless, either way, it becomes their identity.”
However, Julia Fox plans to step out of the shadow of Kanye West.
“I want to just stand on my own two feet and not need a man to back me. I did that for years. I’m good. I have established myself, and I want to keep establishing myself,” she insisted. “Maybe one day I’ll even be taken seriously.”

Of course, after Julia Fox and Kanye West ended their romance, Ye found his muse. Ye and Bianca Censori became an item in December of 2022.
Censori seems to have no qualms about simply being “Ye’s girl”, unlike Fox. She frequently turns heads with comically revealing outfits she wears alongside West in outings.
Meanwhile, reflecting on her time as a top figure in New York City’s nightlife, Fox called herself the ultimate “party girl” and admitted to battling substance abuse.
“I was out all the time. I was homeless,” Fox detailed. “Now that I do have that stability and that safe space, that’s where I want to be—home. I’m done. I’m done. I paid my dues. I got my street cred. I’m ready to stay home.”
Despite her comments about fame being hollow, Fox admits to being starstruck from time to time. She reminisced about the time he met Emma Stone on the set of Saturday Night Live.
“She told me she read my book and, literally, I had to leave the room for a second because I was like, I just saw you win an Oscar two weeks ago. What?” Fox admitted.
