JOSH Brolin has critics furious amid rumors that he’s been cast as Hal Jordan in Lanterns, with some pleading for a casting switch-up.
On Monday, it was reported that the Deadpool star has been offered the role of the Green Lantern in a new HBO series all about members of the Green Lantern Corps.
Popular X account @DiscussingFilm announced the casting rumor, leading to major backlash on the social media platform.
The account revealed that Josh, 56, was offered the role but did not say whether he accepted.
Regardless, some fans felt he was “too old” for the job, pleading with production to choose another actor.
“Nathan Fillion would of been perfect especially since they are looking for an older Hal…,” one person posted.
“But at least Fillion is still going to be a Lantern (Guy Gardner).”
“Brolin’s age is my only issue, otherwise I think he’d bring some fantastic sincerity to Hal’s portrayal that’s been lost in live action since the Rush Reynolds film,” complained a second commenter.
“I can see it. It’s not who I would’ve picked but I can see it working for The DCU,” noted a third more hopeful fan.
“The DCU’s first miss of a casting,” slammed a fourth.
“Interesting choice if true,” another wrote.
“What? Come on cast a young dude for this role,” demanded a sixth.
“Love Josh, but idk how to feel about this if true,” penned a seventh.
“We all know he’s an amazing actor but I just can’t see it…,” bashed someone else.
“This won’t fit so boring,” critiqued a ninth commenter.
“Hold up. what version of Hal Jordan? Isn’t he too old?” questioned a tenth.
