Actor Jonathan Majors told Good Morning America on Monday that he is “shocked” that he was convicted of assault and harassment of his ex-girlfriend.
Majors also claimed that he has no idea how his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari received the injuries she had after the incident which led to his arrest.
“I’m standing there and the verdict comes down,” Majors told Linsey Davis. “I say, ‘How is that possible?’ Based off the evidence, based off the prosecution’s evidence, let alone our evidence, how is that possible?”
Perhaps it had something to do with the 911 call, the wild rant he directed at Jabbari, video surveillance footage showing some of his altercation with his ex, photos Jabbari took of her injuries, and a series of texts from 2022 in which Majors appeared to try and talk Jabbari out of seeking medical attention.
Jonathan Majors added during the Good Morning America interview that there is “no question” that he did not cause Grace Jabbari’s fractured finger and a cut behind her ear, nor does he know he she got hurt.
“I wish to God I knew,” he said. “That would give clarity, that would give me some type of peace about it.”
He blames the whole situation on himself for not getting out of the relationship sooner.
“If I’m not in the car, none of this is happening,” he said. “If I leave the relationship, none of this is happening. If I’m man enough or brave enough to say, ‘I want to see someone else’ or ‘I’m done now,’ I’m not in that car. We’re not here. I’m responsible for those things.”
But he was not responsible for her injuries, he reiterated.
“None of her injuries. I was reckless with her heart, not with her body,” he said. “My hands have never struck a woman, ever.
“I’m an athlete. I’m a sportsman. I know my body. I know how it moves. I know my strength, or lack thereof, you know? None of that was employed on her..”
Grace Jabbari’s attorney, responding to the interview with Jonathan Majors by GMA, said he “continues to take no accountability for his actions.”
Majors, who claims he was discriminated against during his arrest and trial, is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 6.
