John Travolta celebrated what would’ve been his late son Jett’s 33rd birthday with an emotional Instagram post on Sunday.

The “Grease” star shared a throwback photo of himself holding his young son, who died in 2009.

“Happy birthday Jett — I miss you so much!” Travolta wrote, adding, “Love you forever!”

Jett Travolta was 16 years old when he died after having a seizure while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas. The teenager, who was autistic, reportedly had a long history of seizures.

Travolta has previously called his son’s death “the worst thing that’s ever happened in my life” and said he “didn’t want to wake up” after Jett’s passing.

“The truth is, I didn’t know if I was going to make it,” the actor said during an onstage interview at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London, via BBC. “Life was no longer interesting to me, so it took a lot to get me better.”

John Travolta and his wife, actor Kelly Preston, welcomed Jett in 1992. The two also share a daughter, Ella Travolta, who was born in 2000.

After Jett’s death, Travolta and Preston had another son, named Benjamin, in 2010.

Preston later died in 2020 after privately battling breast cancer for two years. She was 57 years old.

At the time of her death, Travolta said that his wife “fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.”

“Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered,” he wrote in an emotional message.
