On Dec. 31, Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper hosted CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live coverage in New York City. The annual televised celebration included its typical heap of shenanigans and laughter, which peaked with the arrival of John Mayer. During the back-and-forth, Cohen asked Mayer about the future of Dead & Company in the New Year, to which he responded, “Have hope.”
The Dead & Company tease arrived after Cooper caught his breath from laughter stemming from the initial shots of Mayer, who was calling in from Tokyo’s Cats in a Box location while in the region for his New Year’s Eve run at Blue Note. During the program, Cohen asked: “I saw you this summer with Dead & Company. And it was the final tour of Dead & Company. Can you preview anything that may come?”
Cohen’s push for information continued, “Do you think we could see this band come together in the next year?” And, “Any Dead & Company info you can tell us? Is there any hope you can give us in that regard?” Mayer responded, “I’m not at liberty to say just yet. But, have hope is what I’ll say.”
Notably, Cohen and Mayer have flaunted their friendship over the years, including when the Bravo host welcomed Dead & Company to the Citi Field stage on June 17, 2022. Moreover, Mayer has appeared on Cohen’s late-night talk show, Watch What Happens Live, on many occasions, most recently in October 2023. Read more.
