Joe Jonas is the latest artist to go kuntri with a k. The 35-year-old recently debuted his country music voice during a surprise duet alongside Appalachian princess Sierra Ferrell.

He sounds great!

Jonas, known best as the middle brother of the Jonas Brothers band, is actually the second oldest of four. His youngest brother, Frankie, will join him on his new album Music For People Who Believe In Love, alongside Tiny Habits, Louane, Luísa Sonza, Domi & JD Beck, and Ferrell. The full project, which is not strictly country music, will drop on Friday, May 23. Its track list is as follows:

Joe Jonas has been mostly quiet since his divorce from Sophie Turner in September 2023 and their subsequent custody battle. We did not hear for him throughout most of that year or in 2024. Only recently has he emerged on various side quests prior to the release of his second solo album.

It started last week in Nashville. Jonas popped up at a local cafe in Wedgewood Houston to perform some of his biggest hits and a few covers.

He showed up for another surprise set at the legendary Bluebird Cafe not long thereafter.

There was a lot of buzz about his appearance in Music City. His fans were beside themselves.

Jonas then traveled from Tennessee to Texas.

Sierra Ferrell is one of the fastest-rising stars in the Americana/Folk genre. She is currently on tour with Post Malone and brought Jonas on stage to sing Shania Twain’s song, ‘You’re Still The One.’

Although I am not in the target demographic for the Jonas Brothers, I can absolutely get down to some of their biggest hits. Year 3000 is one of many bangers. Let’s be real!

With that being said, I am typically hesitant of the artists who cross over into “country.” As just one example, Akon recently teased his new “country” album and it is even worse than you could imagine.

That is not the case for Joe Jonas. He sounds great in his “country” voice!

The track with Ferrell will obviously fit the genre even though the upcoming album is not strictly country. I cannot confirm that it is at all legitimate but I found this snippet of their track and I am a fan so far:

The slightly psychedelic sonic overlap between Ferrell and Jonas flows seamlessly. I, for one, cannot wait to hear the full track how it is intended! I also would not hate a full country album from Jonas.
