Ari Aster has put together a veritable all-star cast for his next A24 film, Eddington, featuring Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal, and Austin Butler.
Revolving around “a small-town New Mexico sheriff with higher aspirations,” Eddington has also been described by A24 as a contemporary Western. Additional cast members include Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, and Clifton Collins Jr.
Eddington begins production this week, with Aster writing and directing. He’ll also produce with Lars Knudsen under their Square Peg banner. The film marks Aster’s fourth with A24 after Midsommar, Hereditary, and last year’s Beau Is Afraid.
Phoenix is coming off a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Beau Is Afraid, while Stone just won her second Best Actress Oscar for her starring role in Poor Things.
Meanwhile, Butler most recently starred in Masters of the Air and Dune: Part Two, and Pascal just appeared in Ethan Coen’s Drive Away Dolls and is gearing up for Season 2 of The Last of Us.
