Jennifer Lopez’s Reply To A Question About Divorce Rumors Raises Eyebrows

Jennifer Lopez was recently confronted about the divorce rumors surrounding her marriage to Ben Affleck, and her reply didn’t help erase doubts about its stability.

Still spotting her wedding ring, Lopez looked tensed and hurt as she avoided answering the question, prompting varied reactions from fans.

The Hollywood power couple’s marriage “is not in the best place at the moment,” although they recently hung out at a movie theater with Affleck’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and their children.

During a press conference for her new Netflix film “Atlas” in Mexico City on Wednesday, the “Hustlers” star was directly asked about the rumors that her marriage with the “Argo” actor has hit the rocks.

According to the DailyMail, a male reporter pressed her to confirm if the rumors were “real,” but she avoided answering, visibly looking tensed and hurt.

“You know better than that,” she knocked the inquirer.

Her co-panelist, Simu Liu, then threw in a word, warning other reporters to refrain from asking such questions.

“Don’t come in here with that energy, please,” Liu said. According to the news outlet, Liu, who plays her costar on Atlas, went on to defend and praise Lopez, describing her as someone who “cares.”

He added: “If I could just end on one thing. Jen is a producer on this movie and the reason why I’m here and the reason why Sterling (K. Brown) was in this beautiful movie was because Jen cares. Jen cares about things like representation and diversity — and she’s a boss!”

It comes after a source shared that Affleck and Lopez’s marriage “is not in the best place at the moment,” per People.

“She likes to open her heart to her fans and the world,” the source said of the “Get Loud” singer. “He is more introspective and private. This has been difficult day-to-day.”

Rumors about their marital strife began in April and intensified earlier this month when Lopez attended the Met Gala alone. At the time, the couple had gone almost seven weeks without making a public sighting, an unusual scene in their nearly two-year marriage.

At some point, Affleck was seen sans his wedding ring, intensifying the rumors that they were done with their union.

However, they’ve made a couple of public sightings, the most recent being a movie theater date with Affleck’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and their children.

A source told In Touch that the embattled couple has experienced a rough patch, which led to the father-of-four moving out of their $60 million matrimonial home as they “just couldn’t make it work.”

The “Hypnotic” actor has since relocated to a house in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, having moved out of the home he shares with Lopez.

He reportedly “decided to call it quits” on their marriage and has been focusing on his new movie, “The Accountant 2.”

“The writing is on the wall – it’s over,” the source stated, adding, “They’re headed for a divorce – and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!”

“He’s focusing on his work and his kids now,” the insider went on. “Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for.”

“They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted,” they added.

A major issue in their marriage was Lopez’s stance on sharing what goes on in their marriage with the world, as opposed to Affleck’s private disposition.

The couple’s contrary views were revealed in Lopez’s “The Greatest Love Story Never Told” documentary, in which Affleck shared his reservations about putting their relationship on social media.

“Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media,'” Affleck stated. “Then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like, you’re gonna marry a boat captain, and you go, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.’ We’re trying to learn to compromise.”

“Things that are private, I’d always felt are sacred and special because in part they’re private,” he stated, going on to confess that the whole thing “was something of an adjustment” for him.

Her trainers, Dodd Romero, and Tracy Anderson, spoke to UsWeekly about how Lopez maintains her impressive shape. Romero highlighted her dedication: “Jennifer’s in better shape now than she’s ever been. She’s tough [and] really doesn’t ever complain about anything. Wherever I tell her to go, she’ll go.”
