Jennifer Lopez Tapped To Produce New Netflix Series

Jennifer Lopez has once again proven her unstoppable drive in the entertainment industry. The actress has landed an exciting new project with Netflix amid rumors of her marital woes with Ben Affleck.

It comes after reports suggest that her other projects, like “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” caused a hitch in her marriage, as Affleck didn’t like their personal lives being aired for all to see.

Jennifer Lopez was recently spotted vacationing in Europe. She is reportedly relishing her time out with friends, as it has afforded her some “breathing” space from Ben Affleck.

According to Deadline, the “Jenny From The Block” singer has landed a new series with the streaming giant as rumors about an “imminent” split from husband Ben Affleck continue to swirl.

Lopez secured the new deal through her company, Nuyorican, to adapt Emily Henry’s novel, “Happy Place.”

The news outlet reports that plans to adapt the novel “as a series are underway” as the producers and streaming executives are now meeting with writers.

The novel tells the story of college sweethearts Harriet and Wyn, who dated but broke up shortly after without telling their friends. Five months after breaking up, they’re forced to share a bedroom at the Maine Cottage, where they’d usually gathered for an annual getaway with friends for the past ten years. Now, they have to continue lying to their friends about their relationship status.

Series producers will be Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina.

Lopez’s new Netflix project comes after it was announced that her tour was canceled on the last day of May via a statement from Live Nation.

The singer also apologized to her fans in a newsletter, OntheJLo, and explained that the cancelation could not have been avoided.

“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary,” the 54-year-old penned to her fans, per People magazine.

She added, “I promise I will make it up to you, and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”

Lopez’s new project comes amid her European vacation. She’s understood to be enjoying her time away because it has afforded her some space from Affleck as rumors about their troubled relationship continue to surface.

A source who spoke to Entertainment Tonight said the “Let’s Get Loud” singer needed a change of environment from what she’d been going through and opted for a European getaway.

“Jen loves vacationing in Europe during the summer. It’s been nice for her to experience a change of pace and have some breathing room,” the source shared. “She has been having a blast with her friends. They love to go to fun dinners, have late nights, lay out in the sun, get dressed up, dance, and shop.”

“That’s never really been Ben’s scene, even when he and Jen weren’t having any issues,” the insider added. “Jen isn’t letting the fact that Ben’s not there bring her down.”

Lopez is reportedly done trying to salvage her troubled marriage to the “Argo” actor, as a source shared that she is “over” it.

The insider noted that she has now realized that she can’t do any “more” to save her relationship with Affleck, adding that the main reason for their split was because Affleck was always “grumpy and negative,” per the Daily Mail.

“Jenny has had enough and she really tried but she can do no more, it’s not getting any better, it’s worse,” the tipster told the news outlet, further adding that Lopez is “shocked” by the bad press she’s been getting.

“If people could see what she has really gone through they would be easier on her. Ben is a great guy but he can be grumpy and a downer,” the insider continued. “I think the world saw that in photos like when they were at the Grammys last year; he wouldn’t smile. If they saw how it really was, they would not attack her.”

“He chain smokes and cusses and seems irritated a lot of the time. Great director and actor, but not a lot of laughs with him, you know?” they added. “He is a wonderful father though.”

The “Hustlers” star surprised fans when she was spotted leaving her Italian destination for Paris over the weekend on an economical flight.

On the trip, she got cozy in the window seat and attempted to go incognito, donning a white tracksuit for the 2hr20 flight from Naples, Italy, to Paris, France.

The unexpected sighting raised eyebrows about her intentions, as the flight operators also offer a business class cabin. However, she managed to reserve a seat for her bag on the flight, which typically cost €134 ($144), and had her bodyguard accompany her.
