The newest and youngest EGOT winner, Jennifer Hudson, is set to add a new achievement to her already impressive list. The actress recently won a Tony Award for her part in producing the Broadway musical “A Strange Loop.”
Despite her recent win, the actress seems like she’s ready to vie for another Daytime Emmy Award. Hudson was announced as the host of a new talk show, “The Jennifer Hudson show.” The series will reportedly premiere on September 12, with Warner Bros as the producer.
“The Jennifer Hudson Show” will reportedly have the team behind the recently concluded “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” as part of its production team. The series will have Fox TV stations as its primary home; however, it will also air on Hearst Television, Sinclair Broadcast Group, TEGNA, Nexstar Media Group, Scripps Media, Gray Media Group, and several others.
Jennifer Hudson Gets Her Own Talk Show
Hudson is gearing up to host her talk show, “The Jennifer Hudson Show.” The program will reportedly premiere on September 12 by Warner Bros., the same studio in charge of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which recently wrapped up after 19 years on the air.
“The Jennifer Hudson Show” is currently cleared in over 95% of the country and will head into the national syndication this fall. Its primary home will be Fox TV stations, and Warner Bros. Unscripted Television along with Telepictures will be in charge of production. Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution will handle distribution for the talk show.
According to The Wrap, several top producers from “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” will reportedly move over to Hudson’s show. Mary Connelly, Andy Lassner, and Corey Palent will serve its executive producers and showrunners. The trio was the team behind the recently concluded “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” since its start in 2003.
Mike Darnell Said He Was ‘Excited’ For Hudson’s Show
While talking about the upcoming talk show, Mike Darnell, the president of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, revealed that he was looking forward to its arrival. “I’ve worked with Mary, Andy, and Corey across multiple shows for the past nine years, and I’m thrilled that we’re able to keep them in the family because they are truly the best in the business.”
He continued, “With Jennifer’s incredible talents, and the addition of Lisa, Graehme, Walter, and Shani to the producing team, I know this show is going to be fantastic and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
The first time Darnell met Hudson was when the actress was a contestant on “American Idol” in 2007. The show shot her to stardom and opened several more doors for her. At the time of her audition, Darnell was the head of Fox’s reality programming and supervised the singing competition show at the network.
Hudson Announced The News On Thursday
After the official announcement, Hudson took to her social media pages to reveal that the show’s premiere was on a very special day for her. The actress tweeted, “I can’t believe I get to say this but welcome to my show!!! Let’s light up daytime beginning September 12th! Wait a minute that’s my birthday !!!”
Hudson revealed that as the host of her talk show, she would ensure that her audience knew who she was as a person while getting to know her beyond her numerous impressive achievements.
“I have experienced so much in my life,” she said in a statement. “I’ve seen the highest of the highs, the lowest of the lows, and just about everything in-between as my mother always told me, ‘Once you think you’ve seen it all, just keep on living.’”
Hudson Is The Current Youngest EGOT Winner
Hudson recently celebrated a big win by becoming the youngest female EGOT winner when the actress won Tony Award for producing “A Strange Loop.” The Broadway show won best musical at the 75th annual Tony award ceremony on Sunday.
The 40-year-old took to Instagram to celebrate the win, thanking several of her supporters for their love and support. Wow!!! I am overwhelmed by all the outpouring love and support that I am Still receiving and I am still processing this whole new ground,” Hudson wrote.
She continued, “What an honor! Thank you all for being with me on this journey. I could not live this life without u. Like I said when I won my Oscar, look what God can do. Well, he did that again!”
