Jeff Baena, Director and Aubrey Plaza's Husband, Dead at 47

Writer-director Jeff Baena, known for his work on films including Life After Beth and I Heart Huckabees, and as the husband of actress Aubrey Plaza, has died at the age of 47.

TMZ reports that Baena was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Friday, January 3rd. Law enforcement believe the cause of death was the result of a suicide.

After graduating from New York University’s Film School, Baena was hired as a production assistant for Robert Zemeckis and then as an editor for David O. Russell. Baena late co-wrote the screenplay for Russell’s 2004 black comedy, I Heart Huckabees.

In 2014, Baena made his directorial debut with the zombie comedy Life After Beth, which starred his future wife, Plaza. His filmography also included Joshy, The Little Hours, Horse Girl, and Spin Me Round.
