As you can see from her post, Garcia likes to do Pilates. She shares a lot of videos on Instagram of herself doing Pilates. The Cleveland Clinic states that Pilates has a lot of benefits. “The benefits of Pilates are both therapeutic and preventive. The practice may help you recover from an existing injury or manage a chronic musculoskeletal issue. It may also help you establish a healthy baseline, so that when those injuries or issues arise, you’re able to bounce back faster. Pilates is known especially for improving lower back pain, as seen in both this 2015 and this 2020 study.”
Garcia also likes to strength train to stay in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself working out. In it, Garcia is seen doing presses with dumbbells. ACE Fitness states that using dumbbells has a lot of benefits. “Dumbbells can provide the two types of overload that lead to muscle growth: mechanic and metabolic. Mechanic overload is the result of damaged caused by muscle contractions, which stimulates the repair process and leads to an increase in muscle size. Metabolic overload occurs when a muscle is worked to fatigue, which leads to the adaptation of muscle cells being able to store more glycogen which can cause muscles to increase in size. Heavy dumbbells can generate mechanical overload, while moderate-weight dumbbells combined with high reps (to fatigue) can produce metabolic overload.”
One exercise that Garcia likes to do with weights are glute bridges. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing them with a large dumbbell. Garcia captioned the post, “To some this is a huge win, to others this is their warm up set 😠but even when I was powerlifting and squatting 225lbs – I always neglected strengthening and building my bum. I started with 95lbs and after increasing steadily for the last 8-12weeks – we are finally at 135lbs! could I have done this sooner? yes. would my form be compromised? yes lol. this isn’t a race :’) happy Monday!!!”
Garcia likes to squat to stay in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing squats with a 135 pound barbell. Allina Health states that squats have a lot of benefits. “The squat is one of the all-around best exercises to do for your lower body. It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong.”
Garcia makes sure to get enough Vitamin D, and talked about this in this Instagram video. The Mayo Clinic states that having enough Vitamin D is very beneficial. “Vitamin D is a nutrient your body needs for building and maintaining healthy bones. That’s because your body can only absorb calcium, the primary component of bone, when vitamin D is present. Vitamin D also regulates many other cellular functions in your body. Its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and neuroprotective properties support immune health, muscle function and brain cell activity.”
