Back in November, former The Tonight Show host Jay Leno made headlines after he was spotted sporting some severe injuries to his face. According to Leno, he fell down a hill near a Pennsylvania motel, which is a story that not many people bought.
According to the 74-year-old former TV star, his injuries were a result of “falling down a 60-foot hill” near a Hampton Inn hotel that’s about “30 miles outside of Pittsburgh” on Saturday, November 16.
Leno claims he was walking to dinner before his show and decided to take a shortcut down a 60-foot-steep hill, where he fell and sustained the injuries. In addition to his bruised and beaten face, Leno also lost an entire fingernail and suffered from a broken wrist.
Speaking to Bill Maher and a recent episode of his Club Random podcast, Jay Leno addressed the speculation that his injuries actually came from being beat up by some sort of mob.
“It’s a conspiracy theory since you’ve had three accidents that you actually have gambling debts and you’re being beaten up by the mob,” Bill Maher said while interviewing Leno on his Club Random podcast.
“I love the idea that the mob would drive to Greenberg, Pennsylvania, wait outside the Hampton Inn on a kind of sleety, rainy day to throw me down a hill,” Leno replied.
“That’s not what they’re saying; please don’t mischaracterize [the original story from] The Enquirer. They’re saying ‘throw you down the hill’ was your cover story, and they just beat you up like the mob always does,” Maher responded.
Courtesy of some hard-working Reddit detectives, an elaborate picture of how Leno could’ve sustained his injuries from falling down a hill has been painted. The poster even measured just how far the fall could have been, clarifying that the hill is 56 feet long from top to bottom.
