Japanese Breakfast stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night to perform “Picture Window,” a track from her new album For Melancholy Brunettes (and Sad Women).
The performance took place in between Coachella weekends, which featured Japanese Breakfast on Saturday’s lineup. She covered Gorillaz’ “On Melancholy Hill” last weekend with her upcoming tour mate, Ginger Root, at the festival, and performed several tracks from her new album (including “Picture Window”). For her Kimmel performance, Japanese Breakfast ran through an enchanting rendition of “Picture Window,” complete with the same moody blue lighting that matches For Melancholy Brunettes (and Sad Women)’s album cover. She and her band also played the song with a large neon-lit sign behind her that reads “Melancholy Inn.” As one of the highlights from her new project, “Picture Window” emanates warmth, despite its melancholy tones.
