In a video clip shared after his hospitalization, Foxx opened up about his health and why his family kept things private.

The actor refrained from disclosing specific details about his health scare but provided an explanation as to why only his family was permitted to visit him during the most critical phase.

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, a television show,” he said in the clip. “I just didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

The actor also dismissed rumors about losing his motor skills due to the health scare. However, he did admit that the illness had a significant impact on him, saying he “did go to hell and back.”

“My road to recovery had some potholes as well, but I’m coming back, and I’m able to work,” Foxx added at the time, concluding with “I am on my way back.”
